Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Paying Dividends: Zacks Investment Research Selects Corero as Its First Line of Defense
Corero Stops DDoS Attacks and Other Unwanted Traffic Ensuring Availability of Zacks' Site

HUDSON, MA--(Marketwire - December 05, 2012) -  Corero Network Security (LSE: CNS), the leading global provider of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) defense, today announced that Zacks Investment Research selected Corero's First Line of Defense solution to protect itself from DDoS attacks and other unwanted traffic hitting their network.

Zacks Investment Research, one of the most highly regarded research firms in the investment industry, knows a sound investment when they see it. Their founder, Len Zacks, discovered a powerful and innovative stock rating system. This variable, known as the Zacks Rank, is used in a number of Zacks' products along with its unparalleled research. Those products are are used by its customers online to make investment decisions and needs to be protected from attack to continue to offer uncompromised products.

After a five hour DDoS attack and an attempted intrusion on one of their peripheral servers, Zacks knew they needed to reevaluate their perimeter security measures. Zacks underwent a rigorous analysis of possible solutions, seeking a technology that ensured availability of its resources and protected those resources as well as its customers' information. Corero's First Line of Defense was selected because of its proven ability to stop DDoS attacks and other unwanted traffic.

"Protecting the integrity of our site and what we represent to our customers is paramount," said Oleg Voloshin, Zacks' Chief Technology Officer. "We decided we needed to have better protection and stronger security in place at the perimeter against the increasingly frequent and sophisticated attacks we were seeing. It was critical for us to guarantee our customers' information was safeguarded. We also needed to ensure that our existing IT infrastructure, including our firewall, which was not built to stop these attacks, was able to perform the functions for which they were intended."

In a business where the bottom line is everything, Corero's First Line of Defense paid immediate dividends: "We haven't experienced any successful attacks," Voloshin added. "Since implementing the Corero solution we haven't had any evidence anyone penetrated our networks -- regardless of the type of initial attack."

Corero's CEO Marty Meyer said: "We are pleased that Corero is enabling Zacks to help meet its mission of providing secure and uncompromised information to its customers. As a first line of defense our solutions are unique in their ability to stop all types of unwanted traffic at the gateway. Traditional technologies were not built to stop these types of attacks and the attackers know and count on this. Any organization that relies on the Internet to conduct business needs this new first line of defense."

Join Zacks CTO Oleg Voloshin and analyst Mike Rothman of Securosis -- a leading information security research and advisory firm -- for a webinar on today's attacks and how to protect against them. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, December 12th at 2 pm EST. To register, go to: http://bit.ly/10GWVVS
