"We are very excited to have someone of Dr. Arredondo's stature join our Chicago Campus as president," said Michele Nealon-Woods, Psy.D., national president of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. "She brings academic and entrepreneurial expertise in addition to multicultural acumen and social advocacy that this leadership role demands as we move the institution and the field of psychology forward."

"I'm thrilled to join The Chicago School family and focus my efforts on an institution dedicated entirely to psychology as the school has done for more than 30 years," said Patricia Arredondo, Ed.D."I'm impressed with the commitment TCSPP gives to supporting the local and global community – through its curricula and its faculty, staff and students – who work tirelessly to apply the principles of the behavioral sciences in the real world."

Dr. Arredondo, a licensed psychologist bilingual in English and Spanish, was formerly with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) where she was associate vice chancellor, interim dean for the School of Continuing Education and professor of educational psychology. Prior to UWM, she served as senior vice president for University Student Initiatives and Student Affairs at Arizona State University. She is also the vice chair of the Social Development Commission, the largest anti-poverty agency in Wisconsin.

Dr. Arredondo has an extensive scholarship record with a focus on multicultural counseling competency models; multicultural guidelines in psychology, immigrants and life-change processes; Latina/o issues in counseling; social justice advocacy; and organizational diversity assessment. In addition to contributing to more than 100 scholarly publications, she has served as president for several professional associations, including the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Psychological Association's Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues, the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, and the National Latina/o Psychological Association.

Recognizing her contributions to multicultural counseling, Dr. Arredondo has received the "Living Legend" award from the ACA, an Honorary Degree from the University of San Diego because of her multicultural scholarship, and holds Fellow status with the American Psychological Association. Dr. Arredondo earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from Boston University.
