NEW YORK, Dec. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue:

Wireless Charging Systems for Electric Vehicles
http://www.reportlinker.com/p01057458/Wireless-Charging-Systems-for-Electric-Vehicles.html#utm_source=prnewswire&utm_medium=pr&utm_campaign=Clean_Vehicle

During the past few years, wireless charging for electric vehicles (EVs) has appeared to be mainly a promising technology with no viable market. In the last 6 to 12 months, however, these factors have begun to shift. Nearly all of the major EV manufacturers have announced partnerships to develop wireless charging systems and there are signs that such systems, installed at the factory or added at the dealership, could become a market differentiator for EV models.

The deployment of wireless EV charging systems is directly tied to the growth of those two markets: EVs and wireless power. Many trials with OEM vehicles have started up in 2012, and at least one vendor – Evatran, which markets its products under the marque "Plugless Power" – intends to bring a system to market in the first half of 2013. Pike Research forecasts that wireless charging equipment for light duty vehicle sales will grow by a CAGR of 91% from 2013 to 2020, as wireless systems move from a retrofit technology to an integrated part of new EVs, reaching annual sales of 283,000 units in 2020.

This research brief examines the fledgling market for wireless charging systems for EVs, focusing on the efforts of technology developers, working in partnership with automakers, to bring systems to market. The technology of wireless EV charging is examined and explained in detail, along with the current state of and outlook for the market. Forecasts for sales of wireless EV charging systems, segmented by region, are provided through 2020.

Key Questions Addressed:

-How does wireless EV charging work, and what are the associated technological issues?
-Who are the key players in developing wireless EV charging systems?
-What are the strategies of the major automakers in regard to wireless EV charging? How have those strategies shifted in the last 6 to 12 months?
-How large will the wireless EV charging market be by 2020?
-What are the factors that will determine the size of the wireless EV charging market in 2020?
-What are the primary benefits of wireless EV charging?
