Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Simple Alternatives Celebrates Three-Year Anniversary; Continued Growth in Assets Under Management

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 12/27/12 -- Simple Alternatives, LLC, a pioneer in the mutual hedge fund of fund space, celebrates their third anniversary since inception.

"Three years ago we embarked on a vision that there's a better way for investors to gain access to a diverse portfolio of premium hedge fund managers," said James K. Dilworth CEO and founder of Simple Alternatives. "Our goal was to deliver the benefits of hedge fund strategies with daily liquidity, and better transparency.(1) Simple Alternatives dedicated pursuit of this vision and early acceptance by independent advisors has made access to institutional-caliber alternative investment strategies attainable for more investors."

The company's flagship S1 Fund (SONEX), managed through a single, institutional share class continued to experience steady asset growth during the year as one of the early entrants in the hedged mutual fund business. S1 Fund had close to $70 million in assets at year-end increasing by approximately 20% in 2012.

"Sophisticated advisors are hungry for better-risk adjusted returns and no longer have to tolerate the limited partnership structure when accessing alternatives," said Dilworth. "By carefully selecting hedge fund managers, the S1 Fund multimanager approach, uses the mutual fund structure to turnkey this process for investors to confidently, and more efficiently access hedge fund strategies."

"Our decision to offer a single I-Share class and focus solely on serving conflict-free consultants and fee based independent advisors confirms our belief that a high-quality mutual fund approach would resonate with sophisticated investors, and this demand reinforces our decision to avoid the pay-to play share classes," concluded Dilworth.

Simple Alternatives was established in October 2009 to offer alternative investment strategies using mutual fund structure. The firm completed the SEC registration necessary to launch their flagship S1 Fund (SONEX) in October 2010.

S1 Fund employs hedged equity managers who seek to produce absolute returns over a full market cycle while managing risk exposure. SONEX seeks to provide long-term capital appreciation with an emphasis on absolute positive returns and low correlation to traditional market indices such as the S&P 500 Index.

The S1 Fund is managed and advised by a team of leading hedge fund professionals, experienced in managing the assets of endowments, foundations, corporations, pension plans, RIA's, banks and high net worth individuals.

Fund Risks

The Fund is non-diversified and may focus its investments in the securities of a comparatively small number of issuers. Concentration in securities of a limited number of issuers exposes a fund to greater market risk and potential monetary losses than if its assets were diversified among the securities of a greater number of issuers. The Fund may invest in small- and medium-sized companies which involve greater risk than investing in larger, more established companies, such as increased volatility of earnings and prospects, higher failure rates, and limited markets, product lines or financial resources.

The Fund may invest in foreign or emerging markets securities which involve special risks, including the volatility of currency exchange rates and, in some cases, limited geographic focus, political and economic instability, and relatively illiquid markets.

The Fund may invest in debt securities which are subject to interest rate risk. An increase in interest rates typically causes a fall in the value of the debt securities in which the Fund may invest. The Fund may also invest in high yield, lower rated (junk) bonds which involve a greater degree of risk and price fluctuation than investment grade bonds in return for higher yield potential. The Fund's distressed debt strategy may involve a substantial degree of risk, including investments in sub-prime mortgage securities.

The Fund may purchase securities of companies in initial public offerings. Special risks associated with these securities may include a limited number of shares available for trading, unseasoned trading, lack of investor knowledge of the company and limited operating history. The Fund may leverage transactions which include selling securities short as well as borrowing for other than temporary or emergency purposes. Leverage creates the risk of magnified capital losses.

The Fund may also invest in derivatives which can be volatile and involve various types and degrees of risks, depending upon the characteristics of a particular derivative. The Fund may invest in options and futures which are subject to special risks and may not fully protect the Fund against declines in the value of its stocks. In addition, an option writing strategy limits the upside profit potential normally associated with stocks. Futures trading is very speculative, largely due to the traditional volatility of futures prices.

Investors should carefully consider the Fund's investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses before investing. Consider the investment objective, risks, charges and expenses carefully before investing. For a summary prospectus, or prospectus that contains this and other information, call 866-882-1226. Read the prospectus carefully before investing.

The S1 Fund is distributed by Foreside Funds Distributors LLC Berwyn, PA who is not affiliated with Simple Alternatives, LLC.

(1)S1 Fund shares can be purchased and redeemed on any day the New York Stock Exchange is open.
