Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Tintri Receives 2013 Editor's Choice Award From Virtualization Review

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/03/13 -- Tintri, Inc., the leading producer of purpose-built, VM-aware storage platforms, today announced that for the second year in a row, the Tintri VMstore T540 is the Editor's Choice Award Winner in the Storage Virtualization category for the 2013 Virtualization Review Reader's Choice Awards. Virtualization Review is the first and only print publication solely devoted to IT virtualization.

Email invitations were sent to 20,000 Virtualization Review readers in October 2012 to vote on more than 446 products. Responses were collected during a two-week period. A team of editors reviewed the results to ensure that the votes were cast by storage buyers only, not vendors. Based on the large number of votes, Tintri received the Editor's Choice Award, which recognizes startups that are creating cool and innovative products.

"Being recognized as an innovator in the storage for virtualization space for two years in a row is tremendous validation of the benefits Tintri is bringing to the market," said Geoff Stedman, Tintri Vice President of Marketing. "Virtualization has created a different set of needs in today's data center, along with a growing requirement for a better storage platform. We are honored that the readers and editors of Virtualization Review see Tintri VMstore as a top storage solution to help accelerate virtualized deployments."

"In the course of sitting through an endless stream of briefings with virtualization and cloud vendors, I almost always find that when I ask vendors to list their primary competitors, they usually say there really isn't anyone else who does exactly what they do," says Bruce Hoard, editor in chief of Virtualization Review. "The fact is a lot of vendors are shooting for the same goals, but in different ways. That's where the annual Virtualization Review Reader's Choice Awards and Ultimate Buyer's Guide enables users to assess hundreds of products in one, central location."

The winners are highlighted in the December 2012/January 2013 issue. A downloadable PDF of the article is also available at VirtualizationReview.com.
