Devon Health Services Names Managed Healthcare Veteran Thomas N. Nicholson as New Executive Vice President

Devon Health Services Inc., a national healthcare cost management company and owner of a directly-contracted Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) network, has announced Thomas N. Nicholson as its new executive vice president.

Mr. Nicholson has over 30 years of healthcare industry experience. He most recently helped lead a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and third-party administrative (TPA) company in the Midwest United States for 17 years. Mr. Nicholson will manage the sales and account management teams at Devon Health and spearhead expansion of the company’s out-of-network claims negotiation division, Consilium.

“Some of the largest healthcare companies in the country have utilized Mr. Nicholson’s expertise, and we are ecstatic to have him join our executive team,” says George E. Bennett, president of Devon Health Services. “Tom has worked in nearly every facet of managed care, and his versatile background will be a tremendous asset as we develop creative, innovative healthcare solutions. We are confident he will help us, our clients, and our provider partners navigate for success in this constantly changing industry landscape.”

Consilium boasts a proprietary Business Intelligence Software Platform that develops provider-accepted payment thresholds that drastically increase savings for non-par claims. Utilizing extensive paid claims and Medicare data, Consilium’s claims negotiators determine fair reimbursement for out-of-network services rendered. Providers agree to terms via signature on all settlements and receive payment quickly.

Mr. Nicholson has served on the advisory boards of the country’s two largest national PPO organizations and four of the top 10 largest stop-loss carriers. He has also served as a principal in one of the largest insurance agencies in the Midwest. Mr. Nicholson graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
