NEW YORK, Jan. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vishnick McGovern Milizio LLP is representing transgender client Mark Krolikowski in his lawsuit against his former employer, St Francis Prep, a prominent Catholic High School in Queens NY. The lawsuit alleges that Mark Krolikowski, a dedicated teacher at the school for 32 years, was terminated after the administration questioned him about his appearance and he informed them that he was transgender. The school principal told Mr. Krolikowski that he was "worse than gay" and terminated him at the end of the school year, even though he agreed to "tone down" his appearance. Andrew Kimler, Esq., who heads the firm's Employment Law Practice, comments, "We believe that this case has significant ramifications for the LGBT community and is a wakeup call to employers in terms of employment practices."
The case has generated substantial media attention including the New York Post, ABC News, Huffington Post, Change.org, and DailyKos. In addition, Mr. Krolikowski continues to receive an outpouring of support from current and former students who started an online petition that has garnered more than 2,500 signatures.
