I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Telstra Global Helps Expand Revolutionary Digital Marketing Offering

Telstra Global, a leading global supplier of managed network and hosting services, has been selected by targeted online advertising firm Turn to provide its low latency connectivity backbone as it expands into Asia. Telstra will support Turn’s revolutionary ‘big data’ based cloud marketing platform with highly secure, reliable and scalable connectivity into Asia.

Turn, which helps advertisers target digital ads by determining likely demographic attributes and synchronises billions of data records throughout its global network in real-time, will use Telstra’s network and hosting services to support the rapid delivery of the 950,000 advertising impressions its system analyses each second.

Turn chose Telstra Global to provide low latency, high performance and highly available connectivity to support its new operations in Asia, having recently finalised its European network infrastructures in Amsterdam and London. It will use Telstra Global’s EPL links with diverse routes and its Hong Kong IP Transit and Data Centre services. By working with Telstra Global, Turn is better able to support its local customers in Asia.

Turn Senior Vice President, Engineering, Dominic Bennett, said the company chose Telstra Global to provide its Asia data centres and high-speed private backbone due to Telstra’s reputation and reach within Asia, as well as its ability to provide flexibility as the company grows.

“Telstra Global is ideally positioned to accommodate our rapid expansion as we scale up our operations into Asia. It met our needs precisely by offering this flexibility within a very non-standard telecoms brief,” Mr Bennett said.

Telstra Global’s Managing Director, Mr Martijn Blanken, said, “Businesses capitalising on growth opportunities in Asia are looking for sustainable growth and services that meet business objectives like scalability and reliability. We are pleased to be able to offer our local expertise alongside a one-stop-shop experience to support Turn’s growth in Asia.”
