Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Webair completes network upgrades in NY1 facility providing 200Gbps of dedicated capacity to its Cloud Computing cluster.

NEW YORK, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Webair Internet Development Inc., a global leader in Managed Services and Cloud Hosting infrastructure has announced the completion of a series of network upgrades designed to vastly increase its cloud infrastructure's network connectivity and redundancy. The upgrades involved the installation of new Cisco and Juniper networking equipment which provide dedicated routing capabilities to its cloud computing infrastructure. The upgrades, which were performed during scheduled maintenance windows did not affect any client services, a testament to Webair's network resiliency and redundancy. The end result of the work performed is an overall increase of dedicated bandwidth of 200Gbps. The new network configuration also greatly increases the amount of traffic that can be processed and the ability to prevent and block DDoS attacks. New and existing clients can now also order cloud servers with dedicated 10GB network interfaces.

The upgrade also further enhances Webair's Carrier Neutral Cloud service, which allows customers to use any bandwidth provider of their choice with Webair's cloud computing platform.

"Webair's flexible network topology allows us to easily perform upgrades to stay ahead of our clients' demands while not impacting any customer services. As the lines between physical and virtual networks blur, Webair continues to enhance its network stack by providing a scalable network layer which can facilitate any hybrid cloud configuration," said Billy Choe, Senior Network Engineer, Webair.
