I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Healthcare Technology Company iHealth Exchange Selects tibbr to Modernize Patient Care
tibbr Powers Collaboration for HealthCare Providers and Hospitals Increasing Speed and Efficiency of Communication

PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/29/13 -- TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX) announced that iHealth Exchange, a social health information exchange company in Houston, selected tibbr® as its enterprise social platform to improve the speed and efficacy of medical care and reduce operational costs while meeting the healthcare industry's stringent interoperability standards. tibbr has been made available to 12,500 Houston area physicians in the iHealth Exchange network to collaborate on patient care.

iHealth Exchange estimates that doctors still fax most of their referrals, requiring dedicated staff that can cost the average practice nearly $50,000 per year. Medical practices and hospitals in the iHealth Exchange network can rededicate those resources by relying on the private and secure tibbr platform to electronically manage the referral process. iHealth Exchange has created a solution with tibbr as its foundation that offers doctors an electronic workflow that follows patients from point to point, allowing for better medical care while still taking into account the requirements of healthcare exchange laws and regulations.

"In my 20-year career, one of the biggest challenges I have seen in the healthcare industry is the exchange of information between providers. Using tibbr, we have been able to replace the obsolete paper and fax machine workflow with an electronic system that lets providers communicate in real time," said iHealth Exchange CEO Chris Stephens. "Patients today expect better care and service from their doctors' offices and hospitals, and enterprise social tools give providers a new platform to deliver modern care."

"With healthcare providers looking to bring their processes out of the dark ages, enterprise social platforms are positioned to play a vital role in how providers and patients interface," said Ram Menon, President Social Computing, TIBCO Software. "tibbr is positioned to be at the center of this new healthcare revolution, working with innovative companies like iHealth Exchange that understand what social can deliver for the healthcare industry. Ultimately, the power of the social enterprise is that it not only improves how healthcare providers share information, it also impacts the care and treatment patients receive."

iHealth Exchange's tibbr platform was recently recognized by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), as the winner of their Reporting Patient Safety Events Challenge. This developer contest is part of ONC's Investing in Innovation Initiative, which holds competitions to accelerate development and adoption of technology solutions that enhance quality and outcomes.
