Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

MRV Leads With MEF CE 2.0 Certification for Its Carrier Ethernet Access Portfolio
OptiSwitch(R) Carrier Ethernet Demarcation Series Is One of the Market's First Devices to Achieve Certification for MEF CE 2.0 Services

CHATSWORTH, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/30/13 -- MRV Communications™, Inc. (OTCQB: MRVC) ("MRV"), a leading provider of optical communications network infrastructure solutions and equipment as well as integration and managed services, today announced it is one of the first companies to achieve Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) certification. MRV's OptiSwitch® 906G and OptiSwitch 940 10GE Carrier Ethernet Demarcation series successfully delivered E-line, E-LAN, E-Tree and E-Access services compliant with the Metro Ethernet Forum's (MEF) CE 2.0 specifications. The OptiSwitch series enables carriers and service providers to simplify the creation, provisioning, delivery and management of new, advanced Ethernet services for business and mobile backhaul, as well as access to cloud services.

"Next generation Carrier Ethernet 2.0, extends the original Carrier Ethernet remit with vital added features including multiple classes of service, greater manageability and easier interconnect for all eight standard service types, enabling new levels of efficiency for mobile backhaul, making it easier for a large number of access providers to join the Carrier Ethernet community and establish Carrier Ethernet as a business class cloud service carrier. The main market drivers continue to dominate business: bandwidth growth, mobile data and LTE migration and the growth of public and private cloud computing," said Nan Chen, President, MEF.

"Since 1999 MRV has taken a leadership role in designing Metro Ethernet networks and was part of the evolution shaped by the Metro Ethernet Forum to define industry standards. We have been demonstrating technology excellence, a pioneering spirit and overall leadership with the industry's first CE 1.0 MEF 9 and 14 certified Carrier Ethernet access platforms," said Zeev Draer, vice president of strategic marketing for MRV's Optical Communications Systems division. "As one of the first MEF-certified Carrier Ethernet 2.0 solutions, the OptiSwitch 900 Series continues to deliver best-of-breed capabilities that enable worldwide carriers and service providers to deliver assured SLA services that create new revenue streams with rapid return on investment."

Major tier 1 carriers and service providers worldwide have deployed the OptiSwitch 900 in their networks and will benefit from the MEF CE 2.0 services along with the solution's compelling, powerful and standardized features that include multiple classes of service (Multi-CoS), interconnect and manageability. An integral part of the OptiSwitch CE 2.0 solution is MRV's Pro-Vision®, an industry-recognized and award-winning service provisioning and management system that enables zero-touch service creation, rapid service turn-up, extensive reporting and Web-based customer portals.

"The Carrier Ethernet market is solid and growing -- yet service providers face changing conditions and new challenges in their access and aggregation networks, driving new requirements to add more services intelligence and flexibility to Carrier Ethernet equipment," stated Michael Howard, co-founder and principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "Even more importantly, carriers need products that allow them to confidently deliver and manage those services. Providers will want to consider the MRV OptiSwitch CE 2.0 products, since they are designed to support these requirements."
