Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Heartbeat Ideas and Heartbeat West Register 58% Growth in FY2012

Drumbeat Digital, LLC, parent company to Heartbeat Ideas and Heartbeat West, reported a 58% revenue increase for 2012. The increase was the largest in the company’s 15-year history.

Last year also saw Heartbeat expand its staff and launch a sister agency, Heartbeat West, in Santa Monica, California. The combination of growth and expansion led to Heartbeat’s most successful year yet.

“Like all businesses we set financial goals every year, but this year my expectations were blown out of the water,” said Heartbeat Founder and CEO Bill Drummy. “We opened Heartbeat West last January, our staff and clients expanded, and revenue grew substantially. That’s all fantastic, but it’s even more meaningful because we did it while doing the work we aspire to. To have achieved all that, well, I’m grateful and looking forward to what’s shaping up to be a very exciting 2013.”

Significant wins for the year included two major West Coast healthcare clients with assignments as both consumer agency of record and digital agency of record. In addition, Heartbeat Ideas in New York City saw a plethora of new work in both cross-channel campaign development and mobile application development for patients, healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical sales force representatives.

Janelle Starr, SVP, General Manager of Heartbeat West reflected on her first year running the new agency, “Opening Heartbeat West was a significant move for us. We built a strong staff, a fresh environment, and earned new clients that excite us. People worked hard and it’s incredibly rewarding to see it all pay off.”

“In 2013, we will celebrate Heartbeat’s 15th anniversary. As I look back, I believe it’s been our obsessive focus on creating innovative marketing that breaks the confines of the regulated healthcare environment has led to more distinctive work and a more inspired staff,” said Mr. Drummy. “Can smart marketing help make people healthier? We damn-sure try to make that promise a reality every day.”

Founded in 2012, Heartbeat West brings a spirit of innovation and world-class strategic and creative skills to healthcare clients on the West Coast. Managed by sun-seeking refugees from Heartbeat Ideas’ New York base, Heartbeat West offers clients the energy and uncompromising attitude of a “New York agency,” only with palm trees and better Mexican food.
