Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

Accuvant to Relocate Maryland Office to Howard County

Accuvant, the authoritative source for information security, is expanding its operations and relocating its Maryland office to Howard County in the second quarter of 2013. All of the approximately 70 employees in Accuvant’s current Maryland office will relocate to the new site, and the company is expected to add 180 additional new jobs in Howard County over the next two years. The joint announcement was made by Accuvant, Howard County, and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED).

Accuvant’s new location in Dorsey will serve as the headquarters for its federally focused cyber security business unit, Accuvant Federal Solutions. It will also be home to the company’s new, state-of-the-art Security Operations Center (SOC). This will enable Accuvant to further expand its remote 24/7 monitoring and management services to help mission-critical clients keep their environments secure, and quickly identify and respond to potential security threats.

“Accuvant has experienced significant growth over the past several years, and it is time for us to take our Maryland-based operations to the next level,” said Ed Wittman, Accuvant’s senior vice president of corporate development. “The new location will provide the flexibility we need to accommodate our future growth plans in the federal space. It also will enable us to further expand the managed security services offerings we deliver to enterprise-level public and private sector clients through our SOC. We are highly impressed with the outstanding support we have received and thank Howard County and DBED for their efforts during the entire process.”

“We welcome Accuvant to Howard County,” said County Executive Ken Ulman. “We know that this leader in information security considered a number of options for relocation, but chose to grow here. Accuvant is a terrific corporate citizen throughout the United States, and we look forward to working closely with them to make sure their relocation is a success.”

Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development Acting Secretary Dominick E. Murray echoed Ulman’s sentiments.

“We were pleased to work with this industry leader to meet their needs and expand critical jobs in the region,” said Murray. “Maryland is the epicenter for cyber security, and Howard County is an ideal location for companies that need to be close to the defense industry, Washington, D.C., and the intelligence cluster around Fort Meade.”

As part of the relocation and expansion package, the State’s Maryland Economic Development Assistance Fund has provided Accuvant with a $300,000 conditional loan, and Howard County has given Accuvant a $30,000 facility improvement grant. The company also will be eligible for additional state and county tax credits.

Accuvant was assisted in the search by Colliers International.
