Feb. 4, 2013 09:11 AM
Aquantia, the leading developer of High Speed Ethernet connectivity solutions for cloud computing and large-scale data center deployments, announced today that it will present at the Linley Group’s Data Center Conference 2013 on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. The conference will be held Feb. 5 and 6 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, Calif. Kamal Dalmia, vice president of sales and marketing for Aquantia, will discuss the underlying drivers of the data center transformation in a presentation titled “How 10GBASE-T is Driving the Growth of 10GE in Data Center and Why You Should Care.” The presentation is part of a session on high-speed interconnects moderated by Jag Bolaria, senior analyst at The Linley Group. “The explosion of cloud computing requires structure around how data centers are implemented, and is leading to the development of new standards and technologies at a faster rate than ever before,” Bolaria said. “By providing insights into these rapid changes and enabling attendees to interact with technology leaders, our conference provides attendees the information needed to make educated decisions on the design of systems for next-generation data centers.” Aquantia recently announced that it has shipped a cumulative 1 million 10GBASE-T ports, capitalizing on the industry’s transition to 10Gigabit Ethernet to quickly established itself as the leader in 10GBASE-T semiconductors. 10GBASE-T enables 10Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over twisted-pair copper. 10GBASE-T offers the lowest cost and greatest flexibility in network design due to its 100-meter reach capability and backward compatibility to previous Gigabit and Fast Ethernet speeds. “The trends towards mobile, video and cloud continue to accelerate, creating an unprecedented migration and consolidation of data into large-scale data centers,” said Aquantia’s Dalmia. “The introduction of 10GBASE-T capable servers and switches marks the beginning of the mass deployment of this technology. We look forward to discussing how 10GBASE-T is accelerating the transition of Data Centers to 10GE with the attendees.” As more products from OEMs have recently been made available, the growth for 10GBASE-T is set to accelerate in the coming quarters, as evidenced by the latest forecast from Crehan Research, which is projecting that more than 5 million 10GBASE-T ports will ship in the year 2013. The combined market share of data center-class switching OEMs having a 10GBASE-T offering for their core products now stands at a staggering 95 percent, completing the swath of server products offered with that interface.
