Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Amadeus Consulting Begins Development on Medical Checklist System for Parallax Enterprises, LLC

Custom software development company Amadeus Consulting secured a contract with Parallax Enterprises to develop an operating room safety system called Consolidated Healthcare and Resource Management™ (CHaRM), modeled after an airplane safety checklist.

Amadeus Consulting will build the CHaRM™ system across a HIPAA-compliant cloud system, an operating room hardware suite and an Enterprise software suite. It will utilize aviation technology, interactive checklists and a revolutionary medical display that shows surgeons critical information about the patient, along with a surgery checklist. The system is designed to increase patient safety and decrease medical mistakes in the operating room.

The methodology for the CHaRM system is based on a joint effort between airplane pilots and medical surgeons to bring the successful aviation checklist into the surgical suite. The CHaRM™ system is protected by a provisional patent application filed in June 2011 and a utility patent application filed in June 2012. The system is on track to complete phase one by spring 2013, and begin beta-testing in at least one Baltimore, Md.-based hospital this summer.

“We are extremely proud to be working on this customized Enterprise project that has the potential to reduce mistakes made in the operating room,” said Lisa Calkins, chief executive officer of Amadeus Consulting. “It’s not often that we can say we are working on technology that will actually save lives.”
