Similar is the case with managed multi Cloud hosting. You can very well understand how a big burden it would be to manage multi cloud servers for organization; this is why a service known as managed multi Cloud is provided to these users. This service ensures them the seam less running of their system administrative operations while organizations focus more on t...

RagingWire Earns EPA's ENERGY STAR Certification for Second California Data Center
EPA Award Recognizes RagingWire for Leading the Colocation Industry With "Green Data Centers" That Deliver 100% Availability

SACRAMENTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/07/13 -- RagingWire Data Centers, the nation's premier data center provider, announced today that its second data center in Sacramento, California (CA2) has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) ENERGY STAR certification. This accomplishment signifies that this mission-critical building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meets strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA. In 2011, RagingWire's other Sacramento data center (CA1) became the first multi-tenant data center colocation facility to be awarded EPA ENERGY STAR certification. Combined, these two facilities contain over 500,000 square feet of data center space and 54 megawatts of critical IT power making it one of the largest commercial multi-tenant data center campuses in the state of California.

"ENERGY STAR is a trusted seal of approval for environmental stewardship from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy and we are proud to earn the award for our second data center in California," said George Macricostas, chairman and CEO at RagingWire. "Energy efficiency and conservation are important parts of the RagingWire culture. We have pushed hard to lead the colocation industry in energy efficiency and availability and we will continue in this effort as we expand our facilities."

RagingWire is one of the few 2012 ENERGY STAR-certified data centers focused on multi-tenant colocation services. Additionally, according to the EPA ENERGY STAR website, RagingWire's CA2 data center efficiency score outpaced any other colocation data center earning the certification for 2012. RagingWire was also recognized by the EPA as a "Low Carbon IT Champion" and featured in a case study and public service announcement in recognition for saving 8 million kWh per year, enough electricity to light 4,000 homes annually, and reducing carbon (CO2) emissions by 6,000 tons per year, equivalent to the annual emissions of over 1,000 cars.

"EPA congratulates RagingWire on earning the ENERGY STAR for their second Sacramento data center," said Jean Lupinacci, chief of the ENERGY STAR program for commercial buildings and industrial plants. "By analyzing their energy performance with EPA's Portfolio Manager and applying best practices learned through their first ENERGY STAR certified data center, RagingWire demonstrates the value of a portfolio-wide approach to saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions."

RagingWire took a holistic approach to improving efficiency and driving down energy consumption at its CA2 data center facility. For example, dynamic fan speed controls on computer room air handlers (CRAHs) and programmable logic controls (PLCs) match the cooling delivered to the data floor with the cooling required to maintain the top rack, cold aisle intake temperature. Increased waterside and airside economization is being used to drive down energy consumption with the electrical rooms being cooled 100% of the time by free outside air. Additional energy savings were created by installing high-capacity adiabatic humidification units in place of traditional gas-fired steam humidifiers. These innovative devices use heat from the air for evaporation, thus reducing air temperature and providing humidification.

RagingWire also teamed with their building automation system (BAS) vendors to improve automatic controls for the chiller plant and computer room air handler units (CRAHs) resulting in an optimized cooling flow to the data room floor and increased overall cooling efficiency. Many of these energy efficiency measures had been proven in RagingWire's first Sacramento data center which earned EPA's ENERGY STAR for data centers in 2011 after an efficiency-driven retrofit.
