Parvus Ruggedized Cisco IOS-Managed Switch Successfully Completes MIL-STD Certifications for MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F
Parvus DuraNET 3000 Passes Extreme MIL-STD Environmental, EMI Tests Qualifying Rugged Ethernet Switch Subsystem for Airborne, Ground, Manned or Unmanned Vehicle Applications

SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 02/11/13 -- Eurotech subsidiary Parvus Corporation announces that the DuraNET 3000, a ruggedized version of Cisco Systems' IE-3000 industrial Ethernet switch has successfully completed military standard qualification testing to extreme MIL-STD-810G environmental conditions, MIL-STD-461F electromagnetic interference/compatibility (EMI/EMC), and MIL-STD-1275/704 power requirements. With these certifications in place, the DuraNET 3000 is now a COTS solution proven suitable for deployment in military and aerospace applications, saving DoD prime contractors the time and expense of performing such tests on their own in support of government programs.

Passing MIL-STD compliance tests ensures that the DuraNET 3000 can operate in harsh conditions onboard un(manned) aircraft, ground vehicles, and maritime platforms virtually anywhere LAN or WAN connectivity may be required. Designed with mechanical enhancements to support deployment of data, video, and voice services in extreme temperatures, shock, vibration, humidity, as well as exposure to dust, water, and EMI/EMC environments, this ruggedized Cisco IOS-managed Layer 2 / Layer 3 network switch requires no active cooling, is completely sealed, and provides interfaces over MIL-DTL-38999 connectors.

The MIL-STD-810 parameters used for testing / analysis included:

  • Operating Temperature: -40 degrees to +71 degrees C / -40 degrees to +160 degrees F
  • Storage Temperature: -40 degrees to +85 degrees C / -40 degrees to 185 degrees F
  • Shock: 40g Operating Shock, 75g Crash Hazard Shock
  • Random Vibration: Jet, Helicopter and Tracked Vehicle Test Profiles
  • Humidity: Up to 95% RH, NC (Conformal Coated PWBs)
  • Water Immersion: 1 Meter, 30 Minutes
  • Blowing Sand and Dust per MIL-STD-810G, Method 501.5 (Sealed Enclosure)
  • Altitude: 13,000 feet (3,962 meters) Operating, 40,000 feet (12,192 meters) Storage

The DuraNET 3000 is currently shipping, and due to its modular nature comes in several configurations to flexibly scale Ethernet port density from ten (10) to eighteen (18) or twenty-six (26) Ethernet ports. This enables customers to match size, weight, and power (SWaP), along with cost and functional requirements to program needs. Customers can contact sales@parvus.com for pricing and lead time information.
