Grand Canyon University Offers Thousands Of Dollars In Scholarships To Transfer Students
Generous scholarships and on-campus tuition freeze make transferring to the private Christian university as affordable as AZ's state schools

PHOENIX, Feb. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Grand Canyon University (GCU) is offering scholarships as high as $6,000 per year for students transferring from community colleges and other post-secondary institutions. The scholarship program is offered in conjunction with a host of other academic, early decision and performance scholarships that make attending GCU as affordable as attending a state university in Arizona. The scholarships are available for both in-state and out-of-state students.

For example, a student transferring with a 3.5 GPA qualifies for an automatic $6,000 per-school-year Transfer President's Scholarship. If the student registers before March 1, he or she will receive an additional grant of up to $1,500 per school year. That student's tuition cost for the year is $9,000, rather than GCU's published $16,500 tuition price.

In fall 2012, the average student paid approximately $7,800 per year, and the university awarded more than $94 million in institutional aid.

"These scholarship programs make a private education as accessible and affordable as a state university education," said Brian Mueller, Grand Canyon University President and CEO. "We are seeing tremendous growth in enrollment as many top-notch transfer students are taking advantage of enhancements to our academic programs, on-campus housing, recreation, and classroom and athletic facilities."

In addition to the generous scholarship programs, Grand Canyon University has extended a tuition freeze instituted in 2009 – and that tuition rate is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students.

Further, Grand Canyon University is committed to helping students graduate on time. Ample courses and sections are offered each semester to ensure students can earn their diploma in as little as three years.

The University's private school experience offers major advantages, including accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, multiple program-specific accreditations, small class sizes, and full-time campus faculty. In September 2012, GCU welcomed approximately 3,000 new students, bringing its on-campus enrollment to 6,500.

The University is currently accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year. For more information, email campusadmissions@gcu.edu@gcu.edu or call 1-855-428-5932.

Grand Canyon University was founded in 1949 and is Arizona's premier private Christian university. GCU is regionally accredited and emphasizes individual attention for both traditional undergraduate students and the working professional in seven colleges: the Ken Blanchard College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Theology, the College of Fine Arts and Production, and the College of Doctoral Studies. GCU offers traditional programs on its growing campus, as well as online bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs.  The University's curriculum fuses academic and clinical rigor with Christian values to prepare its students to be skilled, caring professionals.
