Winning Tickets Sold in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia

MIDDLETOWN, Pa., Feb. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Release text used for PR Newswire feature packages. A more than $1 million Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 jackpot will be split and shared by winners on opposite ends of the state.

Two jackpot-winning Cash 5 tickets worth more than $508,000 each from the Tuesday, Feb. 12, drawing were sold at the following locations:

• Carson Tobacco Outlet, 2350 Noblestown Road, Pittsburgh; and
• ACME Market, 6640 Oxford Ave., Philadelphia.

Each ticket correctly matched all five balls, 02-16-17-19-23, to split a jackpot of $1,016,812 and win individual prizes of $508,406, less 25 percent federal withholding.

Each retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling a winning ticket.

Lottery officials cannot confirm the identities of the winners until the prizes are claimed and the tickets are validated. Cash 5 winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The Lottery encourages each holder of a winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at any of Lottery's seven area offices or at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County.

Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at headquarters.

In fiscal year 2011-12, the Pennsylvania Lottery awarded a total of more than $495.2 million in prizes to winners in Allegheny and Philadelphia counties. The Lottery also contributed nearly $332 million to programs that benefited older residents of those counties.

How to play Cash 5: To play Cash 5, players pay $1 and select five numbers from 1 to 43. Players may select their own numbers using a Cash 5 playslip, or they may opt for computer-selected quick picks. Players must match all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot. Players also win prizes for matching two, three or four winning numbers. Cash 5 drawings are held seven nights a week, and tickets can be purchased up to seven draws (one week) in advance. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are 1-in-962,598; the overall odds of winning any prize are about 1-in-10.5.
