NTT Communications Opens PoP in Nordics to Expand Global IP Network

LONDON, February 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

NTT Communications (NTT Com) in Europe, a member of the NTT Group - the number one Fortune Global 500 telecommunications company - has increased its global IP network reach and capacity into the Nordics, with the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Stockholm.

Based in TelecityGroup's data center in Stockholm, expansion into this key market shows NTT Com's commitment to providing an extended network for its customers coming into and out of Europe. The PoP is a new, key market for NTT Com and will provide high-speed, reliable Internet connectivity on its high quality, Tier-1 Global IP Network.

Not only will it reach customers in Sweden, but will extend to customers in the wider Nordic region, Russia and the Baltic countries; Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, enabling them to provide robust resilient services to its customers. This expansion provides more options for carriers, ISP's and direct customers by increasing the portfolio of connectivity routes available.

Clive Hamilton, Head of Global IP Network in Europe said, "This PoP opens up a whole new region for NTT Com. We can provide extended reach with new and existing customers in the Nordics to the rest of the world." Hamilton continues, "The Nordic region is one of the most stable and prosperous economies in Europe supported by thriving manufacturing and service industries. This additional region will help organizations to gain greater competitive advantage in their global operations and connect with growth opportunities in the Asian market."

Since the beginning of 2012, NTT Communications has shown persistent and stable growth in the Central and Eastern European carrier and IP markets. Now totalling 30 PoP location buildings overall, in the last 12 months, NTT Communications has added an additional 10 PoP locaton buildings in Europe, and has entered new markets in Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Milan, Sofia, Vienna and Stockholm.

TelecityGroup's data centers are built and operated to provide resilient and always-available hosting environments.  Commenting on the recent move into TelecityGroup's facility, Niclas Sanfridsson, Managing Director of TelecityGroup Sweden said, "NTT chose us for our network availability, high levels of physical and environmental resilience, security excellence and flexibility.  TelecityGroup already works with NTT in the UK and Netherlands so we are excited that they have chosen to widen their reach into the Nordic regions by locating in TelecityGroup's highly connected Stockholm data center."
