SAIC Names Joseph Guerci Chief Technology Officer for the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Group

SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) today announced that Dr. Joseph Guerci has joined the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Group as vice president and chief technology officer.

Guerci has more than 20 years of industrial, academic and government experience, and most recently was the director of the Special Projects Office with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). In his role at DARPA, Guerci was responsible for establishing the strategic technology investment portfolio and managing its execution. Prior to this, Guerci also was deputy director for the Special Projects Office and a program manager with DARPA.

"SAIC is working on a number of projects supporting military customers, focusing on the Global War on Terrorism, helping to defeat improvised explosive devices and other technologies. Joe's extensive knowledge in many of these areas will be important to the nation."

Previously in his career, Guerci held a number of senior positions at Northrop Grumman Corporation, Bethpage, N.Y. His most recent position there was senior research scientist and head of the Signal Processing Lab. In addition, throughout his tenure at Northrop Grumman, he was responsible for the formulation and execution of strategic research and technology development for multisensor/multitarget adaptive sensor systems. His responsibilities included direct technical involvement and managerial oversight of all phases of development from basic research and development, through proof of concept, to final technology transfer.

Guerci received his bachelor's degree in Engineering Science from City University of New York. He earned a master's degree and doctorate degree in Systems Engineering from Polytechnic University, New York.
