Mertech Data Systems, provider of ISAM to SQL Database Connectivity (ISDBC) solutions has been notified by KEH Camera Brokers that Flex2SQL was successfully used to quickly transition from a proprietary DataFlex database to a MySQL database management system. Flex2SQL’s plug-in approach allows companies to adopt relational database technologies without expensive source level changes.

As America’s largest dealer of used cameras and photographic products KEH had outgrown the constraints of their existing DataFlex system. The need to track and maintain a constantly renewed inventory of over 50,000 photographic items combined with the demands of a growing customer base created a pressing need to migrate to a more robust and scalable database management system. Prior to the transition KEH experienced constant business interruptions due to database errors and application incompatibilities.

“Now we have fewer errors and no interruptions due to database corruption,” states Arturo Valdez, IT Manager at KEH. “The PC clients using DOS Clients are now able to access the database with the same quality and speed as clients who use Linux emulation mode or native Linux environment.
