Five Reasons Google+ Will Survive the Social Media Storm
Give in to Google while you still can

The Daily News reports that 540 million people are actively using Google+ compared to Facebook's 1.2 billion active users. While Google+ continues to see growth, it's nowhere near the level of Facebook. These statistics seem to suggest that Google+ will never reach the success of Facebook, yet Google+ offers features that keep them in the game. As such, here are five reasons that Google+ will survive the social media storm.

Integration of Google Products
Google is everywhere. Subsequently, Google+ capitalizes on this by integrating the company's entire product line. Add friends, family, and colleagues to your Google+ circles from your contact list in Gmail. Edit, organize, and store photos through Picasa, then share them through Google+.

Like that video you watched on YouTube? Click the "plus 1" button to share the video with your friends on the Google+ network. Google's algorithms can then analyze your selections and make suggestions based on videos your friends like. Google product integration makes Google+ superior because sharing becomes even easier.

Usability Beyond Social Sharing
Many businesses will choose to connect to customers with Facebook and colleagues through LinkedIn. However, Google+ combines the best parts of both of these social media platforms into one and adds a sprinkling of Twitter for good measure. Google+ for businesses allows for a connection to the customer, while providing more information about the business and even directions (through Google Maps, of course).

Users can create circles in Google+ to connect with colleagues without the personal content interruptions. The hangouts feature in Google+ even allows you to video chat or host a conference call with your colleagues and business leaders. This usability beyond social sharing could help put Google+ in the lead among the social media platforms.

A Better Application for Phones and Tablets
With as much sharing as everyone does through social media, having a well-designed app is critical for allowing users to stay connected. Facebook's app appears to fall short in many areas. Yet Google+ has created an app that offers users easy and efficient management of your account.

Whether you're checking status updates on your T-Mobile 4g smart phone or the smart phone of your choosing, the Google+ app allows for the same functionality as the browser version. This is yet another reason that Google+ will survive the social media storm.

General Ease of Use
Google+ makes every effort to make sure sharing is as easy as possible. Google+ has an almost non-existent profile setup for people who use other Google services. Easily add or remove friends through circles instead of the awkward process of friend requests and unfriending. Better notifications and fewer ads make Google+ less cluttered and easier to navigate.

Customize your content based on your circles, and mute any posts so that you see only what you want to see. These Google+ features create a social media experience that is both easy to use and practical.

Approachable Privacy Policies
Facebook has recently been under fire for changes made to their privacy policy. Social media users want to feel comfortable knowing that their information is only shared with people of their choosing. Google+ took a cue from this and created privacy policies that allow users to customize what they share with whom.

Each circle has its own level of privacy that the user can adjust at any time. You can also adjust the level of privacy for anything you put on Google+, whether it's a photo, a post, or people with whom you're friends. Google+'s attention to privacy is another reason that this platform will continue to survive.

Google+ is not the most popular social media platform, but it offers many features that continue to attract new users. The continued growth of Google+ is due to the integration of Google products, the usability beyond social sharing, a better application for phones and tablets, the general ease of use, and the approachable privacy policies. Features such as these will allow Google+ to survive in the coming years. Which social media platform do you prefer to use?
