"People are simply amazed," says co-founder of TIBCO General Interface

Hakman, who also co-founded General Interface in 2001, the year the product was first released, noted that GI now has a very active and growing developer community at developer.tibco.com. He also added a reminder about how TIBCO General Interface is available under a dual license program: "Solution developers can now choose to use the software under an open source BSD license for free, or opt for the fully-supported program through standard TIBCO license and support agreements."The open source move, coupled with the added Firefox 1.5 support, enables even more solution developers of any scale to reap the benefits of General Interface. "We now see a broad range of developers using this industry-proven and incredibly rich technology," Hakman said. The spectrum ranged from college students building their projects with TIBCO GI, he said, to developers in large corporations building solutions with the free edition to test and then demonstrating the potential impact to their managers before purchasing the commercial license. One example of that progression is H&R Block. SYS-CON.TV spoke to Dan Cahoon about H&R Block's experience with TIBCO GI at JavaOne this year, in San Francisco.
