Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

eCube Systems and SOA Software Partner
Particular focus will be given to extending ROI with legacy Web services and serving institutions that rely on IBM CICS

eCube Systems, a leading provider of legacy middleware evolution, today has announced an agreement with SOA Software to deliver SOA (service-oriented architecture) solutions targeting public sector customers via eCube’s GSA schedule contract.

Under this agreement, eCube, a leader in legacy middleware evolution, will team with SOA Software, the leading provider of comprehensive SOA and Web services management, security, mediation and run-time governance solutions, in the sales and implementation of contemporary service-oriented solutions.  Particular focus will be given to extending ROI with legacy Web services and serving institutions that rely on IBM CICS.

Through its history, eCube has a track record of delivering solutions that enable legacy systems developed in COBOL and C-language to participate in service oriented architectures.  Products such as SOA Software’s SOLA (Service Oriented Legacy Architecture), designed to help mainframe CICS applications work as Web services, are powerful additions to eCube’s offerings and custom enterprise evolution solutions.

“SOA Software’s products will speed our ability to deliver complete systems based on a secure and mature Web service platform” says Peter Marquez, eCube’s VP of Sales and Marketing. “Rock solid, proven solutions like SOLA provide our customers with the confidence they need to evolve mission-critical legacy systems to Web services.”

“The public sector needs this kind of high performance, middleware-free approach to legacy integration. We are excited to be able to work with eCube on extending our mainframe SOA success in the financial sector into the government arena,” said Roberto Medrano, SOA Software’s Executive Vice President.

SOA Software’s family of products, including SOLA, will be added to eCube Systems’ General Services Administration (GSA) Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contract. This contract enables federal agencies, state and local governments to procure eCube’s legacy modernization solutions through GSA contract number GS-35F-0484S.
