SpikeSource Agrees to Certify Hyperic HQ(TM) and Resell the Industry's Leading Systems Management Solution

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- SpikeSource, a provider of open source solutions, today announced an agreement with Hyperic Inc, the leader in multi-platform, open source systems management, to certify and resell the industry's leading open source systems management platform, Hyperic HQ(TM). Under terms of the agreement, SpikeSource will offer Hyperic HQ as part of its family of business-ready open source solutions.

"Open source systems management technologies are being used by data center professionals in limited ways because most offerings are not ready for enterprise-wide deployment at this time," said, Joaquin Ruiz, vice president of product management and marketing at SpikeSource. "Customers who purchase Hyperic HQ through our solution provider channel will have access to a tested and supported, enterprise-ready systems management platform capable of managing most Web and application servers, databases, or operating systems commonly found in today's data center."

Designed for rapidly changing environments, Hyperic HQ automates information gathering and reporting to help IT get ahead of problems before they occur. Through this agreement, SpikeSource customers will be able to painlessly install, monitor, manage and extend their entire IT infrastructure not only with the Spike(TM)Net update service but with Hyperic HQ.

"The partnership with SpikeSource opens new channels to us and will help ensure that more manageable open source products will continue to gain traction in the enterprise," said Javier Solter, Hyperic CEO. "We look forward to continuing to work with SpikeSource."

"Organizations that need powerful systems management capabilities, only available today from large proprietary framework vendors, will find a complete open source product that meets their needs at a fraction of the price," said Prem Kumar, vice president of engineering at SpikeSource. "As we move forward, our team will work with Hyperic to develop advanced agents and technologies so that more of the company's leading Web and open source management products can be certified and made available through SpikeSource's growing solutions provider network."
