AT&T COO Randall Stephenson said Cingular Wireless had gotten about a million inquiries about Apple's iPhone

In a speech AT&T COO Randall Stephenson said Tuesday that the company's Cingular Wireless unit had gotten about a million inquiries about Apple's still unavailable $500-$600 iPhone since Steve Jobs showed off the device in January. Cingular has dibs on selling the multimedia/Internet-enabled gadget. iPhone is supposed to be out in June. Cingular is not taking pre-orders. Jobs has said he thought Apple could sell 10 million iPhones in 18 months.

It seems that Microsoft had cottoned onto the IPhone and its use of Widgets pretty quickly by getting a working demo of Windows Mobile and Vista Gadgets working. Inspired by the IPhone?
