OASIS To Present at SOA World Conference & Expo
The Session Title Will Be "OASIS, SOA, Open Standards and Open Source"
Apr. 13, 2007 06:00 PM

OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards,
http://www.oasis-open.org), is a member-led, international, non-profit standards consortium focused on global e-business. OASIS drives the development, convergence and adoption of e-business standards. OASIS was founded in 1993, and now operates with over 500 member organizations and over 5,000 participants in over 80 countries. There are over 60 OASIS Technical Committees producing royalty-free and RAND standards. The open OASIS technical process is expressly designed to promote industry consensus and unite disparate efforts. OASIS cooperates with over 50 other standards and industry organizations to reduce duplication and promote interoperability for OASIS Standards.
OASIS members are at the forefront of developing and promoting Open Standards for Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), including OASIS Open Composite Services Architecture (Open CSA), which incorporates the Service Component Architecture (SCA) and Service Data Objects (SDO) families of specifications, more than twenty Web Services standards, additional SOA Architecture work such as the SOA Reference Model (SOA-RM), semantic developments such as the Semantic Execution Environment (SEE) and Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA), and the ebXML suite of specifications. OASIS members are active in developing Open Source reference implementations of these OASIS Technical Standards.
This presentation will give an update on the latest OASIS standards relevant to the SOA community and discuss the correlation between Open Standards and Open Source.

Service-oriented architecture or SOA is a style of information systems architecture that enables the creation of applications that are built by combining loosely-coupled and interoperable services.
The interoperability element is key, as services need to work independent of the underlying platform and programming language, and at SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 East accordingly, there's a dedicated Interoperability track, just as we have four other highly-targeted tracks, comprising 75+ top-notch technical sessions and presentations.
Another recent driver of SOA adoption is AJAX since AJAX, Rich Internet Applications, and SOA are conceptually joined when it comes to business productivity applications. Far more than just a pretty face, AJAX actually helps extends the benefits of SOA across the enterprise.
