Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Questra Delivers Industry's First Enterprise SOA-Compliant Intelligent Device Management Solution
Questra IDM Application Suite version 5.2s enables web services-based integration of device performance

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Questra Corporation, the leader in Intelligent Device Management (IDM), has announced that the Questra IDM Application Suite(TM) version 5.2s, the first IDM solution to be developed in compliance with industry-standard Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture (Enterprise SOA), is generally available. Version 5.2s empowers Questra customers and partners to perform seamless, sophisticated business process innovation and integration, combining device performance data with other business application data for increased productivity and revenues. It is the foundation for Questra's own value-added products, including the Questra RemoteService(TM) Composite Application version 2.0, which is also now available for purchase.

"The release of version 5.2s with Enterprise SOA capabilities is a significant step as Questra continues on its path to integrating IDM into the overall enterprise framework," said Rami Branitzky, vice president of SAP's ISV partner program. "Questra's Enterprise SOA capability mirrors SAP's vision of enabling enterprise business process integration like the Questra RemoteService composite."

By embracing Enterprise SOA, Questra is making all relevant device performance data and IDM solution functionality available as industry-standard web services, thus allowing their integration with business applications across software platforms. Until now, IDM solutions have been freestanding enterprise applications. Now, using industry standards, applications within the Enterprise SOA-enabled Questra IDM Application Suite can be seamlessly integrated with other enterprise applications, such as CRM and ERP systems. Questra supports true Enterprise SOA by using a set of standard data types across all service interfaces and by publishing these data types. Questra plans to use these data types and services to take advantage of Enterprise SOA in future Questra products, such as packaged composite applications supporting innovative and cross-functional business processes, and the company encourages its customers and partners to do the same.

The Questra RemoteService(TM) Composite Application version 2.0, which enables device manufacturers to reduce service costs and improve customer service through automated service notifications, runs on the SAP NetWeaver platform and has "SAP(R) xApps(TM) Certified - Powered by SAP NetWeaver" status.

"Our vision has always been that IDM is a vital component of a complete enterprise solution," said Walt Rossi, vice president of marketing at Questra. "Now, our customers can deploy packaged composite applications from Questra and innovate on top of these solutions to create, for example, their own user interfaces or composite applications. And our partners can build customized solutions based on their unique competencies, leveraging the industry best practices supported by our solution. Enterprise SOA compliance clearly differentiates Questra's IDM solution, giving the company a distinct strategic advantage."
