Fair, Isaac Rolls Out Version 5.0 Of Blaze Decision System
Fair, Isaac Rolls Out Version 5.0 Of Blaze Decision System

(February 21, 2003) - The new 5.0 release of of Fair, Isaac Blaze Decision System software adds significant power to the software's ability to build, automate, and improve business decision processes across an enterprise. Version 5.0 is available immediately worldwide.

As a key component of the Fair, Isaac Business Science suite of powerful enterprise decision management tools, Blaze Decision System defines and executes business rules and analytics-driven strategies. Users can automate decisions and place customized controls on any business function, for optimal and consistent customer treatment at all customer touch-points. Blaze Decision System works in real time to consistently and automatically make high-volume decisions.

Specific technical enhancements in Blaze Decision System 5.0 include:

  • Support for Java and .NET - A Java run-time option enables users to create Enterprise JavaBeans that are J2EE compliant, and widens the range of platforms on which Blaze Decision System can be used to include IBM WebSphere on IBM AIX, BEA WebLogic on Sun Solaris, and Oracle 9iAS on Sun Solaris. It also supports .NET Web services deployments for both development and production use.
  • Full versioning support - Users can now maintain a history of changes made to a project or library. Applications can take advantage of new versions as needed, and projects that share parts from a library are automatically notified when new versions of the library are available.
  • Improved reuse through shared libraries - Users can create libraries of commonly used parts such as models, strategies, rules, and interfaces that are centrally maintained but can be used in multiple projects. This allows companies to secure sensitive information while ensuring common treatment across the enterprise.
  • User-defined categories for parts - A new feature allows users to organize parts into folders and help manage development processes more efficiently.
  • Improved usability - New features and editing capabilities enable users to better organize development components and customize their workspace.
  • Redesigned repository - Repository enhancements provide increased flexibility in the types of scorecards implemented in a single project and enable projects to share models from libraries with different properties.
  • COBOL run-time enhancements - Users can make changes to constants and hard-coded values without having to recompile the project on the target platform. Application maintenance can be performed much more quickly and conveniently, with less disruption to production operations.
