Linux Business News Now, a KooBox for Kids
Now, a KooBox for Kids

After creating a KooBox PC for grown-ups, Lindows.com, which is proving itself as segmentation-minded as Intel, has added a KooBox for Kids. It features a child-specific version of LindowsOS 4.0 called LindowsKids that's supposed to come with a year's worth of SurfSafe Web and e-mail filtering to block objectionable content, some educational software and colorful interactive desktop themes. SurfSafe, which includes daily updates of offensive sites blocked, is supposed to be more secure than other filters since it's integrated into the operating system itself. Like the original KooBox, which debuted in August, MicroTron2000 is offering the kids' version. Besides a 14-inch flat panel display and a 1.2GHz AMD Duron processor, KooBox for Kids includes a 40GB drive, 256MB of RAM, a 56X CD-ROM, a 10/100 Ethernet connection, a 56K modem, a keyboard, a mouse, integrated audio and a one-year membership to Lindows' Click-N-Run Warehouse of applications. The box starts at $489. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
