The Factory of the Future, Today: Case Study and Lessons Learned from Deploying IoT
IoT offers a value of almost $4 trillion to the manufacturing industry through platforms that can improve margins, optimize operations & drive high performance work teams. By using IoT technologies as a foundation, manufacturing customers are integrating worker safety with manufacturing systems, driving deep collaboration and utilizing analytics to exponentially increased per-unit margins.
However, as Benoit Lheureux, the VP for Research at Gartner points out, "IoT project implementers often underestimate the complexity of IoT integration and overestimate the built-in integration capabilities of their IoT platforms."
In his session at @ThingsExpo, RJ Mahadev, leader of the Global Manufacturing Services business at Cisco, will highlight how companies are partnering with vendors to hone in on the primary use cases, design the architecture and build their factories of the future.
RJ's activities are focused on working with leading manufacturers and vendors to standardize and monetize digital manufacturing platforms. This includes aligning industry use cases with IoT solutions and developing leading practices for architecting, designing & integrating these platforms within the factory. https://youtu.be/Hlhpd6Ggs00
RJ has spent much of his professional life starting up new business in entrepreneurial & intrepreneurial settings. Roles prior to Cisco include stints as Co-Founder and Managing Director of EuroBroadband where he led the development and operations of a WiMax-based business in Greece and Vice President for Global Product Management at Level 3 Networks where he was responsible for deploying and managing the world's largest SoftSwitch platform.
RJ holds a Master's degree in Business Administration in Marketing & Finance from the University of Denver and is a recognized speaker who has presented at numerous industry and strategy conferences.
