Palm Unveils Two New Handheld Computers Aimed at Mobile Professionals

(October 31, 2002) - Palm, Inc. has introduced two new handheld computers, including one with built-in Bluetooth wireless technology. Designed to aid executive productivity, both handhelds vie for the attention of mobile professionals. The new Palm Tungsten T handheld is the most compact Palm branded handheld. It offers a high-resolution 320x320 color display, and integrated Bluetooth wireless communication capabilities, allowing users to communicate with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as printers, PCs or other handhelds. It features full functionality for business file formats including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as expandability for the latest applications, and wireless connectivity. The first Palm branded handheld built with Palm OS 5 and Texas Instruments' OMAP1510 processor, the Palm Tungsten T is a 16MB device with 14MB of actual storage capacity. It has the power to run multimedia features and software applications, and comes bundled with 19 applications. Palm also introduced the Palm Tungsten W handheld, the first Palm branded integrated tri-band GSM/GPRS wireless handheld with a built-in keyboard and a high-resolution 320 x 320 pixel color screen. With carrier activation, the Palm Tungsten W handheld is provides wireless e-mail, SMS messaging, phone functionality, business applications, and Palm's Personal Information Management software. The Palm Tungsten W runs Palm OS 4.1.1 on a Motorola Dragonball VZ 33mHz processor, and comes bundled with more than a dozen applications.
