NEW YORK, Apr. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Suzhou Tourism is pleased to announce that its English-language Instagram account has surpassed the 10,000 follower milestone, amassing more than 12,000 followers. As the destination's official tourism account targeting North American travelers on the popular photo sharing social media platform, @VisitSuzhou takes its followers on a vibrant, virtual journey through the "Venice of China," while also providing practical trips and recommendations for travelers, allowing them to make the most of a visit to Suzhou.
This latest Instagram achievement can be attributed to the success of Suzhou Tourism's year-long "Made in Suzhou" social media campaign, which launched in June 2017. The campaign provides travelers with an in-depth exploration of Suzhou's signature tourism assets – cuisine, art, silk, and gardens. It spans Suzhou's digital and social media platforms and includes a four-part "master class" video series produced by well-known travel personality Kelley Ferro; quarterly online contests and sweepstakes; a recent trip to Suzhou organized for three high-profile content creators; and rapidly growing Visit Suzhou channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube targeting the North American market.
Buzz-worthy consumer-facing campaign events that supported the Instagram achievement included participating in Backstage Creations' Gifting Suite™ during the 69th annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles; constructing a Suzhou-style teahouse staffed by destination representatives at Time Warner Center in New York during the busy holiday season; taking part in the National Basketball Association's Chinese New Year celebrations through a partnership with the Washington Wizards; and offering two complimentary bonsai workshops at Macy's annual Flower Show in San Francisco.
Consumers interested in engaging with Suzhou and discovering its adventurous cuisine, masterfully created arts and crafts, rich silk making culture, and UNESCO World Heritage-designated classical garden can follow #TravelSuzhou and #MadeInSuzhou on social media and visit TravelToSuzhou.com.
Each year, millions of tourists travel to Suzhou to experience the destination's more than 400 attractions, ranging from pagodas and temples to historical districts and world-class museums. Suzhou is continually developing in areas like the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), which boasts five-star hotels, the iconic Lake Jinji, and Asia's largest Ferris Wheel.
