VERITAS Application Performance Management Supports Sun Java Enterprise System

VERITAS and Sun Microsystems have broadened their long-standing alliance by announcing that VERITAS i3 application performance management (APM) software now supports the Sun Java Enterprise System. The integration of VERITAS' APM software with the Java System Application Server and Java System Portal Server, key components of the Sun Java Enterprise System, will enable deeper visibility into the performance of J2EE applications, and is expected to deliver faster application response times, and more predictable application service levels, key capabilities for organizations working to adopt a utility computing model. "Since its inception, the Java Enterprise System's revolutionary approach to infrastructure software has helped eradicate complexity from enterprise software procurement and management," said John Loiacono, executive vice president, software, Sun Microsystems, Inc. "Integrating VERITAS i3 APM software with the Java Enterprise System offers enterprises the benefits of a high-performance software system while also helping customers rapidly detect and correct any potential performance problems." VERITAS' APM software is unique in its ability to find and track performance problems across all application tiers, identifying the root cause of application performance degradation, and enabling IT staff to correct these problems before they affect desired service levels. Meeting service level requirements on a shared, automated infrastructure is a core component of VERITAS' utility computing strategy and it is especially important with J2EE Web-based applications, which are typically deployed to support business-critical activities requiring "always on" performance.
