With the announcement of IBM TXSeries support, IBM business partner Acucorp, a provider of legacy application modernization solutions, has taken a step closer to developing an Eclipse plug-in.

Acucorp's announced support of IBM TXSeries is a positive step towards greater plug-in compatibility with Eclipse. Acucorp is a so-called "Add-In Provider" member of the Eclipse Foundation. The company, for over ten years, has allied itself with IBM, providing tools designed to enhance flexibility within IBM's various distributed environments.

Acucorp has said it stands committed towards the development of Eclipse utilities and tools. This most recent venture will enable, according to Acucorp, experience for future deployment in Eclipse open-source environments, as Eclipse gains ground.

With its current offering, Acucorp's technology enables the creation of new applications on distributed platforms that work with IBM's TXSeries and Acucorp's ACUCOBOL-GT system. "Acucorp extends the mainframe lifecycle through the provisioning of features that enhance transitioning applications in and out of mainframe environments," the company says. It adds that it hopes to provide similar services in Eclipse environments.
