"SOA-in-a-Box" from BEA Launches, for ISVs

Sun and IBM, BEA believes, have too much of a hardware agenda to deal with independent software vendors (ISVs) the same way BEA can.

According to Bobby Napiltonia, BEA vice president and general manager of worldwide channels and alliances, this is going to be the single most important reason why ISVs will welcome the release of WebLogic Platform ISV Edition.

"We don't have a hardware agenda; we don't have an application agenda. We're the integration piece that allows them to focus on their core competencies."

That, and its price point. At $17,000 per CPU (versus $99,000 per CPU for the Enterprise Edition), WebLogic Platform ISV Edition is expected to be welcomed with open arms.

This "SOA-in-a-box" approach is all part and parcel of the Liquid Computing vision outlined by BEA at the JavaOne conference earlier this year.
