Hong
Kong-based Artificial Life, Inc announced their plans to develop new and
innovatively designed games and applications for Google's free and open source
mobile platform, Android. The company anticipates that this emerging
platform will soon attract handset manufacturers because of the lower costs for
the operating system
and expects Android to be successful especially in The company also expects that development on
the Android platform will produce compelling new mobile applications with a
tight integration to online Internet functions as a result of the rich
application programmers interface (API) that will be provided by the Android
software development kit (SDK). With the recent release of the early access
Android SDK by Google, Artificial Life currently prepares their own cutting
edge Smart Engine Mobile Platform(tm) technology to support Android
applications. The Company expects to release its first products for the Android
platform in early 2008. "The emergence of mobile devices with a
more open architecture and robust feature set makes our lives easier by giving
us the freedom to create games with fewer limitations imposed by the specific
devices while, at the same time, reducing production overhead. We will,
therefore, support the Google open source initiative by providing new and
innovative products," said Eberhard Schoneburg, CEO of Artificial Life,
