(Montvale, NJ, December 20, 2004) - SYS-CON (www.sys-con.com), the world's leading i-technology media company, today announced further details of the upcoming cross-platform technology event, Web Services Edge 2005 East - International Web Services Conference & Expo (www.sys-con.com/edge), to be held in Boston at the Hynes Convention Center, February 15-17, 2005. More than 3,000 i-technology professionals are expected to participate this year including the show expo floor, making it the largest Web services event of the year.

The following is the official announcement of the keynotes, sponsors, conference tracks and sessions, tutorials, and the Web Services case studies to be presented during this year's three-day event.

Web Services Edge 2005 East Keynote Speakers and Sponsors

Matt Ackley, eBay: Ackley will discuss the rewards and challenges of building and maintaining one of the world's leading Web services platforms, and share insights and practical guidelines. eBay, the World's Online Marketplace, has more than 114 million registered users, 10,000 developers, and over 700 live, third-party applications. Four years ago, eBay began allowing third parties to build applications that tap into eBay, and today eBay hosts one of the leading Web services platforms.

Ari Bixhorn, Microsoft: This keynote will provide an inside look at Indigo and show you how Indigo will radically simplify the development of distributed, service-oriented applications. Indigo is Microsoft's unified programming model for building service-oriented applications on the Windows platform.

Mike Milinkovich, Eclipse.org: Milinkovich's keynote will examine the benefits of using open source technologies, the decision-making process used when adopting these solutions, and the potential for contributing back to the open source community. Linux, Apache, PHP, and Eclipse are highly successful open source communities that provide the backbone for today's Web applications.

Isn'this the same date as LinuxWorld Conf & Expo...in fact isn;t it the same dates and even same building? GREAT, for once I can get to two conferences simultaneously and get double value from the air fare that I'm asking my boss to approve tomorrow. Cool!

Interesting to see Eclipse and Microsoft side by side with Sun's JCP - the days of interoperability really do seem to be edging nearer. Perhaps this is what Web services has done, more than anythung else, for the industry.

The e-bay API's are awesome...I'm very keen to hear Matt Ackley
