i-Technology News Patch Tuesday Fixes 5 Critical, 3 Important Flaws in Microsoft Software
Windows, Internet Explorer, Word, and Messenger Affected

Even users who have already installed Microsoft's Service Pack 2 cannot rest easy, as Microsoft yesterday released five security bulletins to fix "critical" vulnerabilities - i.e., flaws that could allow an attacker to take complete control of your computer system - and three other patches to fix "important" MS software security flaws. The day, dubbed "Patch Tuesday" by security professionals and commentators, brought word of how Windows suffers from a TCP/IP problem and how an Internet Explorer problem is also "critical." the three other "critical" flaws comprised problems in Exchange Server, MSN Messenger, and Microsoft Word.
