HSINCHU, Taiwan, April 6 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AU Optronics Corp. (''AUO'' or the ''Company'') (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announced preliminary consolidated net sales of NT$14,618 million and unconsolidated net sales of NT$14,596 million for the month of March 2005.

Preliminary shipments of large-sized panels(a) for applications such as desktop monitor, notebook PC, LCD TV, and other applications, broke the two million mark in March 2005 to set a new record of 2.33 million, up 29.1% from the previous month. Shipments of small- and medium-sized panels increased by 23.4% M-o-M to reach 3.39 million.

(a) Large size refers to panels that are 10 inches and above in diagonal measurement while small & medium size refers to those below 10 inches

Unaudited consolidated revenues for the month of March 2005 increased by 26.9% sequentially, while unconsolidated net sales rose 26.8%. On a year-over-year basis, March 2005 consolidated revenues decreased by 3.2%, while unconsolidated net sales increased 4.8%. For the first three months ended March 31, 2005, preliminary consolidated and unconsolidated revenues amounted to NT$38,837 million and NT$38,796 million, while preliminary shipments of large-sized panels and small- and medium-sized panels totaled 6.04 million and 8.64 million, respectively.
