Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Datalogics Announces Distribution of Adobe PDF JobReady v3.0: New Release Includes Support for MSI-Based Installation and Client-Side Job Queueing
Datalogics Announces Distribution of Adobe PDF JobReady v3.0: New Release Includes Support for MSI-Based Installation and Client

CHICAGO, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Datalogics, Incorporated today announced the availability of Adobe(R) PDF JobReady(TM) v3.0 through its distribution channels. Adobe PDF JobReady v3.0 enables print providers to offer more secure Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) print workflows that begin at their customers' desktops and extend across the Internet to the final output device. PDF JobReady is available exclusively from Datalogics to OEMs, ASPs, ISV integrators, and enterprise IT developers. New features in this release include: support for Windows(R) Installer (MSI)-based distribution files; and a new, internationalized client-side job queueing capability.

PDF JobReady is delivered as a software developer toolkit (SDK) which can be used as the backbone for print-and-submit workflow applications. Using the SDK, developers build PDF JobReady client components distributed as customized printer drivers. End users print using this driver, initiating a process which creates a more secure PDF file; offers clientside preview; captures job information; and delivers the entire package to the server for processing. The PDF file is created on the client side, enabling all the fonts and necessary resources to be collected, in accordance with the specific requirements of the print provider. As a result, compatibility on the server is virtually guaranteed, and job wastage is practically eliminated. PDF JobReady is used worldwide in "quick print" franchise operations as well as corporate print management solutions.

"Adobe PDF JobReady continues to play a key role in web-to-print," said Raman Nagpal, Director of Product Management, Print Technologies at Adobe. "Application developers utilizing PDF JobReady as the backbone for their print delivery management systems can easily integrate into high-quality, more secure, end-to-end PDF based workflows. We are pleased that Datalogics is making this new release available to customers."

"This release is about broadening the appeal and deepening the capabilities of PDF JobReady," stated Greg Manuel, VP Marketing at Datalogics. "Client-side queueing is a brand new feature for PDF JobReady, and opens the doors to completely new workflows: imagine a technical sales presentation which includes a PowerPoint presentation, a few datasheets and architecture diagrams, and a spreadsheet of pricing information. These files could be collected and submitted as one 'package' to the print center for printing, binding and delivery. As for the MSI support, this is something which will be of particular interest to customers who serve the corporate print environment, such as Rochester Software Associates."

Robert Conway, Director of Professional Services at Rochester Software Associates, Inc. agrees. Conway notes, "RSA's PDF Print Driver, SurePDF, has always incorporated PDF JobReady from Datalogics to deliver seamless integration with WebCRD, RSA's Portal to the Print Center. Now with the new MSI capability from Datalogics, our customers will be able to deploy this technology to desktops across the enterprise in a hands-free, automated fashion. This is an enormous value-add to large companies with a distributed workforce."
