Zenoss has rolled a new version of its a product suite. In addition to other enhancements, the new release adds native VMware monitoring across the full virtualization infrastructure life cycle. This latest version, Zenoss 2.3, now enables enterprise IT staff and cloud services providers to monitor their virtual and physical IT infrastructures with a single, integrated product that costs significantly less than traditional offerings.

Zenoss Enterprise delivers functionality across the major IT management lifecycle disciplines across the full physical and virtual infrastructure. Integration of inventory data in a central configuration database allows Zenoss Enterprise users to view all performance, availability, and event data with a single web console. The product also includes remediation, allowing Zenoss to take corrective actions automatically when problems occur.

"Although technology departments will be under continued pressure to lower costs and trim budgets, IT systems and applications must continue to deliver appropriate service levels to ensure overall business success," said Milind Govekar, Research Vice President at Gartner. In addition to several minor enhancements, new features of Zenoss Enterprise 2.3 include:

Zenoss also announced a new release of Zenoss Core, a community version of its network monitoring software. The new version includes modeling-based management using WMI (Windows Management Interface), new Windows Service monitoring, and 30 new drop-in management extensions, developed by Zenoss Community members, for systems such as Cisco Security Appliance and Brocade switches.
