There have been several calls for standards to help make services from different cloud providers interoperable and ultimately more useful to businesses, notes Erik Carlin, Senior Cloud Architect at Mosso - the cloud computing division of Rackspace - and part of a star-studded lineup of speakers next week at SYS-CON's 1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo - but in the meantime the lack of interoperability and consistency across services keeps many businesses from adoption.

Carlin will be giving a breakout session "When Is The Right Time For Standards?" - in which he will providing the answers to such questions as "Are standards really needed?" "Who should be involved?" and "What are potential consequences?"

As its Cloud Architect, Carlin's focus at Mosso is on innovation, optimization, and integration of cloud technologies.
