"The days of Cloud 1.0 are here", stated Red Hat CTO Brian Stevens in his session this morning at 1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo (Cloud Expo) in San Jose, CA.
Over the last five years, the open source community has turned its attention to virtualization, and Stevens discussed what has been achieved so far, and what is under development, for example, the hypervisor, which is part of the Linux kernel, enables one to deliver rich native applications. He spoke about building preconfigured systems on virtual machines, and how underneath every cloud runs a virtualization layer.
Clouds are not just about servers, and Red Hat is working to virtualize service on the desktop.
