Accelerating Opportunity & Improving Regional Technology Transfer Potential
Regional Commercialization Conference Set for Dec. 11

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Without collaboration, there can be no technology transfer. Without technology transfer, innovation will wither and die on the vine.

The New Jersey Technology Council and supporting organizations from the Mid-Atlantic Commercialization Consortium, determined not to allow that to happen here, will focus on the topic of commercializing technologies at the Regional Commercialization Conference set for Dec. 11 at the Cira Center.

The conference will bring together an invited audience of university tech transfer officers, entrepreneurs and investors to present and hear presentations of technologies on the commercially ready pathway.

In addition to presentations from participating universities, the daylong conference will feature two exciting speakers including Dr. Patrick T. Harker, president, University of Delaware, and Banu Onaral, Ph.D., H.H. Sun professor and director, School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems of Drexel University.

Panels will focus on the topics of investment, featuring venture capitalists, angel investors, and license/business development officers, who will discuss what they look for from very early stage technology and life science companies; and Success Stories, which will feature a technology company, PlasmaSol, and a life science company, PTC Therapeutics. Representatives from these two successful firms will discuss the path from university to commercialization.

The Mid-Atlantic Commercialization Consortium is comprised of industry, university and economic development representatives of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York. The purpose of the Consortium is to build capacity in the region and accelerate and improve the region's technology transfer and commercialization potential.
