Turbolinux says it's got a deal in its pocket that will see the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China's biggest commercial banks holding a fifth of the total assets held in all banking institutions in China and a Fortune 500 company, standardize on Turbolinux' operating systems and software throughout its banking operations over the next three years. The value of the contract was not disclosed. The Japanese company claims it's the largest Linux deployment to date in the Chinese financial industry. It says the bank has bought an unrestricted user license along with three years worth of upgrades, virus protection and maintenance. During the conversion, the Linux software will be used on the bank's web servers and new terminal platform. The bank reportedly maintains the largest customer base in China, some 100 million personal clients and 8.1 million corporate accounts. It has 20,000 agency branches in China and more than 1,000 subsidiaries abroad. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
