Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Keynote Intros Mobile Application Perspective 3.0
Real-time operational monitoring for text messaging

Keynote Systems has announced Mobile Application Perspective 3.0, an on-demand service for real-time interactive testing, monitoring and diagnosing of mobile content utilizing a library of over 1,600 wireless device profiles. MAP 3.0 introduces features for monitoring and diagnosing the performance of person-to-person SMS text messaging, common short codes and mobile Web sites. MAP 3.0 offers mobile test and measurement services.

MAP 3.0 includes powerful capabilities for monitoring the performance of text messages from the perspective of whether or not a message has been successfully transmitted and received on the other end and for diagnosing performance problems when they do occur. MAP 3.0 users now have access to detailed performance metrics regarding the end-to-end transmission of a text message and can also view a snapshot of the received message in order to validate content delivery.

MAP 3.0 can initiate a transaction from the Internet and follow it to a mobile device. This gives the operations group charged with ensuring optimal performance a view of the combined internet and mobile transaction.

Another enhancement in MAP 3.0 is the ability to customize the capabilities within MAP for Common Short Code monitoring. Users who monitor CSCs for speed and reliability can now take advantage of "extended time outs" to capture a comprehensive view of the end-user's experience that include broad variations in latency. Version 3.0 provides detailed, diagnostic information from the source code, showing the cause of poor performance and visual snapshots of the mobile page at the moment a problem occurs.

By building these new capabilities into Mobile Application Perspective 3.0, Keynote is now able to offer these services to content developers, aggregators and enterprisese. Keynote has four test and measurement businesses: Web performance, mobile quality, streaming & VoIP, and customer experience/UX.
