Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

SaaS/Gov Conference to Explore Intersection of Cloud Computing and Government Tech Focus

DC CTO Kundra Along with Other Government and Tech Leaders to Discuss Obama Administration's Plan to Revolutionize Federal IT at SIIA and INPUT Event, Feb. 25 in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries, today announced its third annual Software as a Service (SaaS) conference for the federal IT market,

SaaS/Gov: Cloud Computing Comes to the Government, February 25 in Washington, DC.

With the Obama administration expected to revolutionize the federal IT infrastructure toward an open, interoperable, and more citizen-friendly environment, discussions at the SaaS/Gov conference will center around these issues. Further, SaaS and cloud computing are helping to drive today's technical developments and will also play an important role during the conference.

SaaS/Gov is presented by SIIA and software and services consultant INPUT and will feature presentations from both government and industry leaders - including salesforce.com, NetSuite and Google - as they explore ways SaaS is growing in the government marketplace and strategies for ISVs to market their capabilities in the public sector.

Presentations will examine how cloud computing has improved the operations of the U.S. Census Bureau, District of Columbia Government and other agencies. Notable industry and government speakers/panelists include:

  • Vivek Kundra, CTO, District of Columbia
  • Morris Panner, CEO, OpenAir, Inc.
  • Kevin M. Plexico, Senior Vice President, Operations, INPUT
  • Zach Nelson, President and CEO, NetSuite
  • Robert Spector, Director, Business Process Improvement Program Support Center, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

"SIIA is delighted to once again partner with INPUT to present this pivotal conference, an event that focuses entirely on enabling and delivering Software as a Service for the federal government," noted SIIA President Ken Wasch. "SaaS/Gov 2009 will give OnDemand professionals the insight and tactical advice they need to succeed in the public sector."
