"It turns out that people really want a personalized Google," said Google Inc CEO Eric Schmidt recently in an interview. "They want Google, but they want it to be their Google." With this in mind, Google has started testing a customized portal page, "Fusion," that lets Google users to personalize the whitespace on the Google home page with features like stock quotes, e-mail, and news. In the sample page Google is currently displaying at http://www.google.com/ig, users can see that whitespace populated by a panel bringing together Gmail, Google News, Wired News, a Word of the Day feature, today's Weather, and a Stock Market report. The new "Personalize Your Homepage" trial is also featured at the top of the Google Labs page, Google's so-called "technology playground." Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
